    Still great advice! I would only add one point which is, find like minded people to play with. If you are looking to improve on Ladder (TMM now) or Custom x vs x games and find that you are unable to perform good enough to win on your own, make some friends and queue together because at the end of the day, even if you do everything perfectly, you are playing a team game. As Picard once said: "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose." Sometimes your opponent is just better. Use those times to learn from them.

    @magge Did you not read all my comments? I have tried a VPN from several locations. Also, hitting up my provider seems pretty pointless. As I say, my internet is fine, I can even play on the python client. There is something up with the new client, somehow, for some reason. And it seems to have happened suddenly for no apparent reason.

    VPN works for some reason, but disabling security doesn't work I had tried before but didn't mention it. Guess I am playing with a VPN for the foreseeable. Cheers

    I get kinda the same thing if I try to play in the afternoon, lots of Russian players at that time. The simple solution is tmm, and what's funny is there is no lag even when I'm playing Russians

    @dassmatte just to clarify, even these faqs don't help? That is, the game still crashes even if the sound is disabled or the sound folder is manually removed/renamed? It would be helpful if you could give some more info on your setup, especially for what concerns your audio setup: the more info, the more likely someone will be able to help. 44199hz This is probably s a typo but you are supposed to use 44100 Hz

How are you trying to generate the map? Did you enter a seed? Are you using the check boxes? Did you experiment with the command line? If you put something into the command line, you can't generate maps the "normal" way unless you open up the command line again and clear whatever is on it.

    fyi i was logging in with the wrong password. Because i am as ancient as vanilla, loggin details in lobby are different than for the site. Lots of pcs , lots of reinstalling, the cumbersome need for new loggin details , back in time , when buying a new pc or playing in a different location.... Linking with steam saved us. Anyway......

    UPDATE: Someone suggested changing the ICE adaptor preference from Australia to Germany....so far this has FIXED the problem. So it appears Australians shouldn't connect to the Australian ICE adaptor....go figure....
