      Your report is in the queue and Moderators are aware of it.

      If you get harassed via PM, you can report it and I can assure you that is being taken care of, because such personal things have high priority. You have not reported such thing.

      I appreciate your suggestion about implementing an anonymous mode for matchmaking. If you are interested in contributing to the project, I welcome your input on GitHub.

      The overall toxicity in FAF has decreased in recent years. Sensationalist thread titles are out of place.

    • DDoS Update

      Most players are now able to use the FAF service again after security was significantly strengthened. However, the DDoS attack is still ongoing, and it's possible that new attack techniques are being tested, which may occasionally affect our services.

      The situation is currently under monitoring.


      Edit: Players who are using a Coturn server to connect to other players are encountering some connection issues recently. A permanent solution is in the works.

      As for the matchmaking penalty for unsuccessful connections, it's only temporary and you can try again later.

      The client is unable to establish a secure connection to the content server for downloading the game files.

      • Disable security software for testing purpose
      • Check firewall settings, if it blocks anything related to secure connection/FAF Launcher

      Something is blocking the client to have access to the internet, or you have a very unstable connection.

      • Check if your internet connection is stable
      • Check if firewall is blocking the access

      Starting the campaign offline with save/load

      Begin with going to your FAF folder. If you are lost, open the FAF client, click on the 'hamburger' button (I put a 1 there for clarity), then click on 'Show data folder'.

      Proceed to the bin folder.

      Right click on the faf exe, then click on create shortcut.

      This will now create a shortcut to FAF to play offline-you can move this anywhere you want (for example on the desktop). Either way, if you now want to play the coop maps offline, you'll need to edit this shortcut, so right click on it and select Properties.

      Add /init init_coop.lua to the end of the target like so:

      That's it! You can now play downloaded coop maps by opening the game from this shortcut and going into skirmish, where you'll be able to choose the map, faction, options, and whatever else you want.

      As an aside, while you do start these maps from skirmish, you actually load the saves from campaign-it's a bit weird but not too much of a problem at the end of the day.

      If you see v0027, that's already the last one. Make sure you don't have other ones around in the folder as you might pick an older one by mistake (manually delete or move those folders somewhere else if you want to keep them).

      Again, you should be able to complete this map in one sitting, as I have tested it.

      As an aside, when launching the client offline, you will only see the coop maps you downloaded from the FAF client beforehand.

      §1 - How does the report system work?


      The report system serves as a mechanism for users to flag violations of community guidelines to the Moderator Team. Once submitted, reports are processed, potentially resulting in warnings, temporary or permanent suspensions. Reports will help to maintain a safe and orderly online environment for all users.

      The report system operates on a priority queue-based system, which means that the more reports an individual receives, the higher their priority becomes in the queue. This ensures that users who engage in repeated violations or problematic behavior are dealt with more quickly and effectively.

      The consequences are determined by the severity and frequency of the offense, as well as the number of reports submitted. A first-time offender may receive a warning, while repeated or egregious violations may result in temporary suspension ranging from a few days to several weeks.

      Extreme violations may lead to a permanent ban. The consequences are carried out by a single Moderator, but the Administration and the Moderation Team have insights about the decision process. This multiple-eye-principle prevents misuse of power or favoritism of offenders/reporters.


      §2 - How do I make a valid report?

      1. Insert the name of the offender. (The system keeps track of any renaming)

      2. If related to a game - Insert the replay ID and the exact Game Time Code HH:MM:SS where the incident happened, in their respectively cells.

      3. Provide a short and crisp description of the incident. If the incident was outside a game, then you need to attach a non cropped screenshot of those messages via a sharehoster like imgur or your favorite hoster.

      It is important to provide clear and detailed information in a respectful manner in order to ensure that your report is taken seriously and given proper consideration.

      §3 - Common questions and answers


      3.0. What is smurfing, and why is it not allowed?

      Smurfing is having more than one account, and it is not allowed because it undermines the ranking system, can discourage new players, and can lead to toxic behavior. The anonymity of multiple accounts can give some players the false impression that they can behave inappropriately without consequences.


      3.1. How to appeal?

      To appeal a ban, please send a message to [email protected] that at least includes the following information:

      a. Your FAF username
      b. Your reasons for requesting the ban to be lifted

      We have converted permanent bans to temporary bans in the past, giving players a second chance. Honesty is key, and we will treat you with honesty as well.

      It may take several weeks or longer until you get a reply, because it is a team decision and at times the Moderation Team has a significant workload to process.


      3.2. Can I get TrueSkill points reverted from a certain match, or can you reset my TrueSkill points?

      No - it's not possible for the Administration or Moderation team to change your TrueSkill or reset your points. The TrueSkill system is designed to adapt quickly to your skill level, so your points will adjust accordingly as you continue to play.


      3.3. Is it acceptable to quit matchmaking games when it seems like the game is lost?

      While it is not allowed to make use of the self-destruct key to destroy all units in a match-making game, simply quitting the game without having the ACU in a friendly base is within the allowed limits.

      Repeatedly abandoning games due to minor setbacks in the early stages may result in disciplinary action being taken. This behavior is considered unsportsmanlike and disrupts the integrity of the game.


      3.4. Player steals reclaim and mexes

      Any mex or reclaim on the map is 'Whoever comes first'. However, it is recommended to communicate with the team and to play fair, otherwise the non-cooperative player could be excluded from future games of its teammates.

      Maps often have a meta that establishes guidelines for gameplay, including which resources are fair game and which mexes are typically claimed by certain players. To learn the map meta, check the replays from veteran players.

      3.5 Destroying air units near the map border

      Because of the large reclaim reach from an engineer when he has an attack move from its factory, it is allowed to destroy any air unit near the border to let the wreckage fly behind it. Even if you can not see the wreckage, you are able to reclaim it.


      3.6 Abusing the map border to hide air units

      Deliberately making waypoints with the purpose to hide air units behind the map border is not allowed. If an attack on an enemy unit which was near the border is causing this off-mapping, then it is accepted.


      3.7 Cherry-Picking offenders games without participating

      It is considered unethical to go through a player's game history and report every minor chat offense for revenge or vendetta. However, exceptions to this rule may be made in cases of extreme harassment of a player.


      3.8 Game gets desynced or Unknown Result

      Desynchronization or unknown results can be caused by a variety of factors that are not always easy to diagnose. If we receive reports of a player intentionally desyncing games or manipulating the game state to avoid a rating loss, we will take appropriate action.

      It is still helpful to report these incidents so that moderators can identify any unusual patterns. Not every desync or unknown result is on purpose - sometimes it just happens, unfortunately.


      3.9 Player lags the game and makes it unplayable

      If you encounter a player who is lagging and causing issues in the game, you can contact a moderator in Discord or the FAF client for assistance. To ensure a fair process, be prepared to provide screenshots that show the lagging player, and both teams must agree to the decision to kick the player from the game.

      You can still report the player with the proof. If the player has a pattern of frequently lagging games, then we need to find a solution.

      Press F11 when you are in game and post this screenshot. It shows which players have connection issues.

      3.10 Host has enabled cheats and someone ruined the game by cheating

      It is your responsibility to check for any non-default game settings when you join a game. You can easily see any non-default setting in the starting lobby; for example:

      3.11 Why do the replay times have different lengths?

      The top clock icon is for 'Real Time', while the bottom is for 'Replay Length'.

      The total time it took the players to play this game was 26 minutes and 12 seconds, but the actual play time, without any slowdowns or lags, was 22 minutes and 48 seconds.

      This difference in timing can lead to false reporting of game events, as something that happened at 25 minutes in your current playing game, which may have slow speed and lags, could have actually happened at 21 minutes in the replay.

      To avoid reporting false game times, it is the best you watch the replay after the game has finished and report the actual game time.


      3.12 The report system is not meant for reporting technical difficulties

      Playing the game when you queue up for matchmaking shows respect for your fellow players and contributes to a more positive and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone involved.

      Before you queue up, you can click on the button 'MAPLIST' to see the current map pool - They change each season. The match gets immediately ranked when the game starts.

      This four-step guide is the most basic setup for one monitor full screen, which should work for nearly all use cases:

      1. Set the game to window mode via your in game options menu
      2. Disable secondary adapter via your in game options menu
      3. Install autohotkey version 1.1, (script does not work with 2+) from https://www.autohotkey.com/
      4. Download attached file and extract the .rar → right-click the script ⇾ Run Script

      Download: ForgedAlliance_Borderless.rar
      (.ahk scripts are not allowed to attach, content of the script can be seen in the next section for easy copy & paste or download the .rar and extract the script.)


      Script explanation:

      This AutoHotkey script periodically checks if a process named "ForgedAlliance.exe" is running. The script minimizes and maximizes the window as a way to update the window's appearance and to remove any glitches that may occur due to the removal of the window border.

      You can pause/edit the script if you click on the green H icon in your right taskbar.


      For any special cases like several monitors, I would suggest the tool Definitive Supreme Commander Launcher (see above).

      @Hakkapeliitta That is really a concerning and alarming statement, which indicates that something with the whole ladder system is not functioning as intended. Which should be investigated.

      Well, unless I checked the wrong player history - which I highly doubt -, your ladder games were back in 2018 (3 games) and 2017 (14 games) against enemies from ~500 to ~ -200 rating players. While you were around ~250.

      I know some people are exaggerating their opinions, but can we stay at least at the ground, please.

      You can simply set a password and can test everything out by taking your time. If you play online versus other players, you do not have to worry, there are many novice players out there.

      There is a known issue after the last update which only affects a very small user base. There are still playing thousands of players, there is no need to create dramatic titles, especially when the issue is already being investigated. It is unfortunate that you are affected by it, but you can still play the game, when you simply remove the Game.prefs.

      I like the system very much so far. The overall presentation is high quality with all the stats that are getting presented, and it makes me want to play more.

      The No Shared 4v4 can be removed honestly, because everyone plays the shared thing.

      Attention should shift to the disconnection and dodging behavior of some players to avoid specific maps/players. One possibly fix, would be, not to show the map/players in the lobby before you are in the game.

      I have tested most of the new implementations and they are gorgeous. The Distribute Orders and the loading-into-transport stuff is incredible and has a great positive impact with many QoL features.

      The mobile factories look very promising, and this is how it should have been done in the first place 20 years ago -> produce while moving IMO. My suggestion would be to add an icon to the "main unit" that hints that you can select the "building-entity" to produce units or even link it directly to it, if possible.

      The wiki links in the options menu are fantastic, those short videos and explanations are superb.

      I am really used to automatically selecting the building unit when I hover over an empty mex- or power plant spot. Hopefully, I will see this feature again, because having to press an additional key to have it feels odd (to me).

      The same goes for the blueprints for the buildings, they are great and are a nice QoL, but when I have only engineers selected, and I hover over a building, it would be nice to see the most used template already selected, instead pressing a key to get the blueprint selected.


      Currently, when I select mixed tier 1-2-3 engineers, it only allows T1 buildings, even when T3 or T2 engineer is in the mix.

      The Engineer Filter stuff is another good QoL - Would it possible, if I had selected a bunch of mixed tier engineers, to show me the highest available tier in the building menu bar instead the other way?

      With this mechanic, when I build a T3 building, the lower tier engs should automatically assist it. I would guess there were some engine related issues to not have it that way which felt much more natural?
