    • FAF Official Tournament Payout Guidelines

For all FAF sponsored tournaments that pay out funds this document represents the requirements and rules around tournament prize payouts.

      • Tournament prizes are payable on the day the last match of the tournament has completed and will be held for a maximum of 90 days. If the prize is not collected after that date for any reason, the prize will be considered forfeit and returned to the tournament budget for that year.

      • Payment of tournament prizes must be made directly to the participating player.

      • The method of payment is determined by the treasurer of the FAF Association at that time. If the player is unable to receive payment through the method dictated by the treasurer within the 90 day window the prize will be considered forfeit and returned to the tournament budget for that year.

      • Any transaction, exchange, or other fees associated with the payout will be the responsibility of the receiving player and will be deducted from the total payout delivered.

      • FAF is a registered association in Denmark and must abide by any and all limitations and regulations applied to us. Any prize payouts that cannot be paid due to regulation and/or sanction will be considered forfeit and returned to the tournament budget for that year.

    • Impact of Russian Sanctions on Russian Tournament Winners

As many are aware FAF is a registered association in Denmark. Due to this we have to abide by all laws and regulations applied to us to continue lawful operation. This for FAF has had a direct impact on FAF tournament scene as it has limited our ability to pay prizes from FAF provided funds to all players who participate and win.

Recently the board has moved to clarify our tournament payout policy and ensure that FAF does not carry indefinite liabilities that cannot reasonably be fulfilled. This resulted in the Tournament Payout Guidelines that can be found here.

During this time the board also attempted to fully understand the reach and impact of the sanctions as well as contact legal counsel to fully understand our options. Unfortunately, we were unable to successfully engage legal counsel for a verified opinion and our own research led us to conclude that making any payments to sanctioned individuals would be to the detriment of FAF as a whole.

Due to this and the realities of the sanctions placed upon us we wanted to make it clear that for as long as the sanctions are in place we are unable to make tournament payouts to players residing in Russia or any other country sanctioned in a similar fashion.

It is not something that we wish as we recognize the potential negative impact this has on the tournament scene. However, this is the reality of the legal landscape at this time.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you understand it is beyond our capability to do otherwise.
