Tournament Format:
Double Elimination
This tournament format tends to be used for more casual events as it provides a way to ignore the concerns of seeding that more competent players have by having a "2nd chance" bottom bracket. It takes losing at least 2 series to be knocked out. The format also tends to have an additional match to determine the final winner in the case that the winner of the bottom bracket beats the winner of the top bracket. The existence of this extra game in the case of a loss is the extra security the winner of the top bracket gets for never losing a series.
Entry information:
Please provide name of team and players.
Please arrive 1 hour - 30 minutes before tournament is hosted for check in.
Allyby: If player naturally disconnects throughout the game, team will have option to continue. Although Must have 4 players to start game.
If by chance the game disconnects due to server issues, (multiple people) the game or match will be null. In this event a new game will be hosted. In the event the servers go down, the tourney will be postponed to a later date.

Settings: Balance: Fixed, (Players will not play same slot twice) Full-Share, 1500 max unit
We will have a maximum of 10 team entries
Rules:

All members of team must arrive at check in time of the tournament. If by chance player is missing for some odd reason, there may be exceptions for substitutes.
Team will have a combined rating of 6700 rating cap.
Must have rating by the day of sign up. No rating manipulation. If suspected will result of disqualification.
All members of a team must have minimum rating of 1100
Looking through feedback, I have decided there will be no personal rating cap. Therefore there will be no exceptions towards the the minimum and combined rating.
Starting on 12 November 2023 players will not hand base over to the highest rated player of the game for the purposes of having a slight eco advantage. Giving units is accepted but not entire bases. This just changes the entire point of adding a rating cap. If suspicion is found of this type of gameplay, team will be disqualified. Exceptions include ACU being killed by enemy, user has a disconnecting issue (user must provide proof)

As of now we will have 2 separate brackets, one for 1800+ 5 teams and -1700 ratings 5 teams. More to follow.

• As of now we will have single signups , --> highest rated for each team will be team captains for their respective bracket.
• If player of team does not show up for tournament, team will be disqualified, NO substitutes for current team. If there is a team on standby, that team will be the replacement on the respective brackets!

Syndicus -Finally a tournament I can get into! 1300

@chisato As discussed with Farms, it is difficult to find the sweet spot in which both levels of players (Moderate and Pro) are able to play at the competitive level (rating wise). The idea here is to include more than just the pros. As well as to avoid such team, stomping down the others due to a large skill gap (ex: stacked 2K teams), which is why the 6600 is justified. Simply put, the tournament is hosted for a greater amount of players in the FAF community!

@Cortana @FtXCommando @CheeseBerry Thanks for your inputs for the tournament. I think I now have a more general understanding of what is to be adjusted here. I have adjusted the minimum rating to be 1000 rating and have adjusted the ceiling to be 2300 rating. If you have any ideas on or changes for what I adjusted please send me your suggestions.

This comes as a hard decision and ultimately I do understand the concerns of everyone . I was hoping the issues were to be solved before the tournament. Unfortunately there still lies bigger issues with the game in general. I will follow up with the Dev's to see where we are at by the end of the work week and seeing if its plausible to even play it this weekend.

I will still be adjusting teams as we go.

Due to ongoing concerns for the state of the game. I'm going to postpone the tourney till next Saturday. I will include 2 more team entries due to the surplus of player entries. Everyone else will be substitutes in case player misses event hit time. If in the event we don't get the sufficient rated players on the lower end of the rating 1500 or less I will allow 100+- past combined rating.
In the meantime, please post replay numbers where any bugs that may cause disruption to the game, in the "bug reporting" section on the FAF discord.

@deli I don't think so to be completely honest. I think when you hit 2K, you've hit a barrier of how much skill is possessed by that player. Of course this is subjective to what types of maps are played (Ex. 2K dual gapper vs 2K TMM player). It isn't as dramatic until you reach like 2500 because in that regard, in order to have possessed that many points, that player would have had to win multiple games against other 2Ks to be able to gain points going past, which would show superior skill. As you may know there are not as many players that achieve 2500. I think allowing 2100,2200,2300 to be considered 2000 is fine.

I have made the last changes for the tournament, I do apologize if there was any misconceptions. As of now anyone is allowed in the tournament with the respect of the minimum and combined rating requirements.

This will be the last of any significant changes as we are exactly one week away from tournament day.

@nuggets I think, because it's early posted? I did this on purpose, hopefully to mitigate absenteeism and to give time to those who need to plan it out if they are going to make it that day.

1. Well considering this is almost an exact copy of last years tournament thread, I would say yes, everyone who read it assumed it was a 4v4 because Setons is traditionally played 4v4 and has been for a decade. You are the only person who pointed it out till now.

2. There are some changes to come as far as the rules. We need the player signups. We will most likely go with captains.

3. This tournament since its yearly is most likely aimed at seasoned players even more if we go the captain route because the captains will choose those who know how to play most likely and possibly this will even out the balance. I can't make captains if I don't know who the captains are kappa.

You are more than welcome to message me on discord, if you have any recommendations.

@insidiousnoob It will be both Doni, I will give reconsideration later, but for now I need a list who's going to play in the tourney to better apply the rules. No point making decisions with only 3 players signed up to play. And no you are banned from the tourney doni (jk). As far as teams I think that's pretty self explanatory, I even put a picture there to mark up the player positions lol but just for you I will write it in the post. Traditional setons is played 4v4.

Why do we feel the need to want to micromanage this? I get that renames may cause confusion, but as others have stated, it gives us the freedom to change something. The rest of the game is stale as it is. Now we are making a fuss on something simple as a name? Provide a solution that provides some flexibility please.
