      APOLOGIES THIS POST IS IN CODE FORMAT - it was the only way I could show my post while keeping the tabination of the word & count tables.. 🙂

      Currently learning python and decided to play with and analyse this dataset just out of curiosity.
      
      It contains 20,405,216 words, spread across 23,929 files (representing that number of games)  for a total data size of 112+MB
      
      I removed the 2,760,185 non English words as I am only able to speak one language. So that's all the Russian, German etc words removed.
      
      So there are 17,645,031 English words remaining, let's look at these.
      
      None of the following proves anything, I just thought it would be interesting to have a look.

      That's a wildly sweeping overgeneralization.

      In team games I certainly miss the RAS SACU option, I've tried pumping out basic SACUs which generate a little mass but it's not remotely the same thing.

      I've never heard a good argument for Sera not having RAS SACU other than different races have different units - which is not a specific argument to this unit. Sera really needs the option of portable eco like all the other races have. I don't see that they have anything to compensate for not having it.

    • Print pause message into chat box

      Just a small suggestion, when a player hits the pause button currently, the message of who pressed it only displays for a moment. If the notification could also be printed into the chat box then it would be easier to track who did it. Would be useful for better communication and for identifying any pause abusers in team games.

      There's no need for any mention of any politics (of any sort) in FAF. Let's keep politics out of our hobby. Everyone has their opinions but we play FAF to escape our normal lives and relax, let's keep it a positive environment if we can.

      The current closest FAF rule I can find is :
      "Do not harass, defame, or discriminate other players based on their sexual orientation, gender, race, culture, religion, nationality."

      Could we strengthen this in terms of just banning politics?

      @scorpion2000 this is a zero-cost-to-you volunteer maintained project, any chance you could ask politely and give enough information to explain clearly what you are experiencing so that the unpaid workers can investigate and fix (if needed) in the minimum amount of their own personal time?

      I've thought a few times it would be useful to have a setting available for all factories to build at half speed. Let's say I have an air factory sending out scouts on repeat towards the enemy purely for intel reasons. I expect them to die fast but i need the intel. I'd be happy wasting less mass doing so and a build at half speed option would be useful. It could also be used when focusing mass elsewhere, eg when trying to rush a nuke you might want all your factories to reduce buildspeed but not stop building outright. Just a thought, curious if anyone else thinks it might be useful.

      Just to complete this thread I did indeed run a test game and figure out the current values, as follows:

      Viper
      Single missile launches, will do 200 Damage if it hits target.
      If hit, it splits into three.
      These missiles will do just 10 Damage if they hit the target.
      This is 5% of the original damage.

      Cybran T2 TML
      Single missile launches, will do 6000 Damage if it hits target.
      If hit, it splits into three.
      These missiles will do just 833 Damage if they hit the target.
      This is just under 14% of the original damage.

      So what I've learned is that the split missile damage is not OP. In practise, these units overwhelm defenses when used in number not due to OP damage but because the smaller splitoff missiles (that do relatively little damage) will cause the TMD to fire on them. TMD then needs time to reload and is unable to fire on the higher damage missiles.

      Conclusion - they're a pain in the bum to defend against but I would no longer feel they are OP.

      I'd be for the time delay to be as small as possible. The acu is either alive or it's not. Having any sort of real time delay wrecks those desperate acu snipes as the enemy exp bears down on your base. Just kinda bizarre killing the ACU and watching as it's units continue to wreck havoc.

      Well, now I am glad I deleted my original flaming comment to the OP that used words such as entitlement. I can't say I fully agree with BlackYps but i can understand where he is coming from. My fear is that blunt and seemingly demanding posts like the OPs will turn the volunteers against continuing. Even small amounts of toxicity and unappreciation could lead to our devs thinking what's the point and leaving. I have been here long enough that I can just about remember when FAF died and went offline years ago due to the main dev just getting sick of the whining and toxicity 😞 As a community I feel we should rally around the devs that have given us hundreds of hours of (usually) happy distraction from the real world.

      Mapgen levels the playing field. If you beat your opponent because you knew the map better then you are not necessarily a good player but a good map learner. A good player can analyse and plan for any map. A not so good player will just learn to do certain things in a certain on certain maps.

      When the multiplayer game hangs due to packet loss or some data transmission issue, could the game automatically say in the all-chat that player X and playerY have lost connection to each other? Or if anyones ping goes over say 600(?) the all-chat box will say so. Limit how often the message would appear eg once every 60 seconds. People may be inclined to sort out their issues if it is made very clear who is having the issue? Just a thought.

      I played hundreds of games on Dual Gap as training basically. Each spot has a very clear identity and meta. As such the amount of things you have to worry about are drastically reduced. You really can focus on your map role as dictacted by your starting posititon. Only once did I get good enough at each position did I feel ready to branch out into other maps. I didn't want to experience the learning curve on constantly new maps. It really serves the purpose of a training map very well.

      I had a look on audiojungle and there are plenty of good sfx for a dollar or two. A basic license is included which would allow FAF to put it in their game. Here's two great possibilities for the radar ping -

      Radar ping 1
      Radar ping 2

      The second part of this SFX might suit a SACU explosion

      Sacu go boom

      I'd be happy to buy a SFX and donate it to FAF.

    • Can we adjust loading acu onto transport?

      Please can we make it so that when you attempt to load your acu onto a transport the transport will always move over to above the acu and load them, as opposed to currently where the acu will walk over to the transport. Nothing about this makes sense, the slow moving high value unit pathfinding to the fast moving unit that cannot be blocked by obstacles...lol

      Attack move sends the units toward wherever you click. If they meet an enemy they will stop moving and start firing. If they kill their enemy or the enemy withdraws then your unit will recommence moving towards wherever you originally sent them.
      With engineers, they attack resources that can be reclaimed, so basically trees and rocks.

      Respectfully - "It ruins the entire aspect of how forged alliance is intended to play" I don't believe anyone is the single authority on how FA is intended to play.

      Turtling players are always at a disadvantage. This game is rock/paper/scissors. Look at what your opponent has and find their weakness then exploit it. There is always a counter. Always. A static base is literally a sitting target for you to pick apart. You can see exactly whats there and not.

      As Zokora says some maps are strategy dependent. And some are not fun to play for that reason (imho). FAF has a bazillion fun maps, try a new one for a change.

      T3 arty is easily defended. You get some shields and you reinforce them with a good number of engineers, making sure you have mass in the bank to spend on helping the shield regen.

      The mass they spent on a T3 arty was not spent on units for them. So you should have a vastly larger army which should have wrecked your opponent. The time it takes to build a T3 arty is time you have to plan and execute a strategy.

      The constant learning curve and the constant unexpected tricks/tactics/strategies used against me. I always feel like a beginner (in a good and exciting way) and I've been playing for 5+ years. When I get wrecked the feeling is usually "wow, how did they do that, i must learn that" as opposed to "i never had a chance".
      The full map zoom is something you cannot live without when you play other rts and the constant rebalancing of units with the updates to the client etc shows the constant evolution of the game. In no way has this game reached its peak and I dont see it reaching it anytime soon. i honestly believe if not for the single thread on cpu bottleneck issue then this game would be a top esport game.
