Simspeed++ mod not installing auto or manually

Hello all.
Returning player here - have some previous experience getting client/ game to work and also played a lot before hiatus.
Tried to join a friend's lobby but got kicked out due to 'simspeed++' mod not being installed, apparently.
Tried to manually install using both clients - no joy.
Updated java - no joy.
Tried to find a download or package by searching on github (I don't really know what I'm doing there) - no joy.Anyone kind enough to help please?

don't know if this is relevant, but did you delete the corresponding folder in documentss\my games\gas powered games\forged alliance\mods\
i've had at least once instance where a mod wouldn't install/update until I manually deleted the folder there, and then redownloaded from vault.

Working now - tried the mod fallback setting and that did the trick. Thanks!

Note that simspeed++ has barely any effect anymore after the cybran drones being significantly more performant since the last patch - it is essentially obsolete at this point
