I see no reason for a crash. Try a normal map, without any mods. If it still crashes, do the usual "reinstall-everything" approach. Also, can you post the Windows error log about the crash.

So it looks like it was up to the unit icons. I've found a temporary fix: enabling the option in the settings for the unit icons to be constantly loaded. Now there are no crashes, I've been able to play for over 30 minutes now.
