Dont understand how its not a draw

I played a 1v1 ladder game where it was going to end as a draw.
both coms are in range for 2k damage which would kill each other, i die but his com takes only 500 damage.i have rewatched it a few times, i get vet somehow but its just confusing. (dont get me wrong, i lost but i need it to make sense)
