Game fails to launch

When I launch the game now, I get the following error
and this is the log filegame_18985724.log
it seems to come and go over the past few days, but have no idea why.
any suggestions?

Probably related to mods - Try without them, and if it works, enable them one by one.

I think it is something steam related.
If I launch the client without steam open it works fine, if I then load steam I get the error, if I then close steam the error remains, but if I close both down and only have the client open it works again.
