Microsoft or Windows problems possible?

My computer asked me to sign into my Microsoft account as soon as I turned it on. Although I did not alter my wallpaper at the Home Screen, I can still see the icons for my applications. My whole progress in a game that I opened in Steam seems to have been lost. Anyone with this issue or a solution to recover my data?

you may now be logged into a different profile on your local computer. By profile, I mean a local account like "mom" or "smoker". You can check this by looking at c:\users to see if there is a different account you are on. -
