Newbie Channel

Simple question: Why is the channel "newbie" not a channel by default, if u join faf? Until now, i didnt even know, that this channel existed, neither the link to the beginner guide. I think that should be changed.
It would be helpful too, if a bot or something like that would message the newbies with the link to the guide:

Currently players are auto added to newbie if they have less than 50 games.

Is this a new feature? I cant remember if it was that for me too (around 2 years ago)
